Comment on My wild soul is calling – a wholehearted story by Elizabeth http://www.quietwriting.com/wild-soul-wholehearted-story/#comment-488 Sun, 03 Sep 2017 14:52:56 +0000 http://www.quietwriting.com/?p=5206#comment-488 Kerstin, I’m so glad you enjoyed my story and found it comforting and inspiring. That makes me feel so happy. When I was writing it I was thinking of a particular quote – something about having to leave one shore far behind before we can swim for the other. I can’t quite remember it, but that is how I have felt quite often. It’s so hard though and I am still working at letting go of some of those anchors that get attached to us and pull us down in our adult years. I read your blog post “Why luck had nothing to do with my self-directed life” which was a brave and beautiful story. And I totally understand the thing about getting called lucky. I have often been called lucky and although I often feel lucky to be in the places or situations I am in, I know that it has very little to do with luck and much more to do with bold (and scary) decisions and sacrifices. But I think you have to be bold to follow your heart! Good luck in your adventure too. I will be following with interest ♥

I think it’s so important to get in touch with our inner child and what I’ve learned through this journey is to also be compassionate to the child within. Now whenever I feel some harsh self-criticism coming on I try to think of my inner child. My five-year-old self. If I can do this then I am much kinder to myself. I’ve realised that the child in us never really goes away and this makes me feel more whole somehow. I’m glad you enjoyed it anyway.

(Not sure what happened to your first comment but I’ll follow up at this end – thanks for letting me know.) I was just visiting your blog and can also see so many synergies between your story and Elizabeth’s story. It’s so lovely and comforting as you say to hear the similarities in journeys to understand our own and encourage others. I keep going back to your beautiful post on ‘Why luck had nothing to do with my self-directed life’ and have continued to share it with people. It’s such a fabulous reminder that hard inner work has its rewards and it’s not about luck! Thanks so much too for your thoughts and feedback. More people are wanting to tell their wholehearted stories as they read others’ stories for exactly the reasons you describe here. It’s so beautiful to see. So thank you for being a part of this important journey xx
